WebFood not in a stockpile will go bad. Food in a stockpile can experience "wear" from vermin, which makes it bad, and can attract flies (unhappy thought) but doesn't go bad on its own. But, the inconvenience there may be inconvenient at first. If you really need to dig down and hit the light aquifer, there will be a delay while you work things out and that could cause issues.
